The dance of the tractors
The view is spectacular : If the eight vintage tractors in the Delaware County Tractor Square Dancers somewhere in Ohio chug on a field at a festival or a classic car show, there's always lots of ahs and ohs in the audience. Four women and four men on 50's and Farmall John Deere s, the tractors decorated gender justice with pants and skirts. And then the music: Pounding rhythms of American folk music. The tractor began to move, and during the so-called "caller" specifies the formations, the pilots their old tractor curl formation dance on the field. 19 countries - 5 continents - 24 time zones. A driving range 15000-30000 km. 300 days time. The vehicle: a tractor. Accommodation: A cabin with the nickname "wellness oasis". Since January, the Westphalian farm machinery mechanic Matthias Lause with a Claas 697 ATZ Ares on "Tractor World Tour" is underway. The driver
Matthias Lause, 25 years old, grew up on a farm in Bad Driburg-Alhaus and completed an apprenticeship as a farm equipment mechanic. Even with 16 years of tech-savvy Matthias Lause had made his license for tractors. In the summer of 2004 he saw a television report of a tractor traveling from Germany to Sicily ( we have about the trip to Palermo-Hermann already reported). That gave him the idea in the same way again to go around the world. In the search for sponsors, he turned to CLAAS. Here are more interested in the extraordinary project and decided to sponsor the action together with a number of supplier partners, if the world tour would be connected to a fundraiser.
The tractor
The Claas ARES 697 ATZ, 1.5 years old, maximum comfort, "Tractor of the Year 2006". With its 150 hp it is suited quite well, the "caravan" of his driver by the world to draw. He also has - says Claas - the highest level of comfort in its class, what's on such a long journey in handy.
The Tour
It began on 18 January 2007 CLAAS in eastern Westphalia Harsewinkel out over five continents and 24 time zones. The donations will help children and young people in Lesotho, CARE, growing up without parents, the care of her sick parents to AIDS or accept to pay for the livelihood of the family need. Under the motto "A Garden for Life", CARE school gardens with these children and young people to improve their nutritional status, providing them with knowledge about the cultivation of food and the harvest and to give them the opportunity to to go to school.

Eicher parts for Palestine: Adventures in relief of Eicher's friends Black Forest
There are regions in the world, there will be vintage tractors, not only for tractors meetings or light work brought out - there they are vital for whole families and villages. For example, for us Fathi his family in the village of Beit Omar in Palestine. There is an oak-type 3712 of 1977 in daily use. Dramatic loss of oil (2 liters per day) and chronic lack of spare parts threatened the livelihood of the family. Until the Black Forest Eicher's friends started a great relief.
The village of Beit Ommar is a purely farming village famous for its cultivation of fruit, apples, pears, grapes. It has 16,000 inhabitants and is located 20 km from Jerusalem and 12 km away from Hebron in the southern West Bank.
Fathi lost because of financial difficulties his work at a club. To feed his family, his only nor his modest Agriculture: 20 acres for growing cucumbers, 30 ar for Obsttbäume, 35 for 40 for tomatoes and grapes. He has 5 sons and 5 daughters live by them, with 3 still at home. The sale price for the fruit has crashed since the start of the second intifada in 2002. 5 years ago, a producer sold his plums for the equivalent of a brief € per kilo, now they are not even 15 cents.

Fathi Eicher 3712 type A, built in 1977, is in poor condition. Money for maintenance, he has little. Spare parts are expensive and heavy. During a visit begins Alain, a friend from France, to start looking for parts and money. Not so easy. Alain is once again affected by the passion for Eicher tractor. An old man even claims, in the village there is more than the entire rest of the West Bank. The first tractor was a Zetor in 1967. He belonged to the village chief. Eicher tractors are popular for their robustness, ease of handling and the narrow track. The fact that replacement parts hard to find and extremely expensive, are forcing the owners to everyone's satisfaction but often for sale. New brands such as SAME and FIAT gain the upper hand on economic grounds.
